About Travel Safety Index
Travel Safety Index is a travel risk assessment platform that gives you a clear, data-driven picture of how safe it is to travel to any country in the world. We combine official government travel advisories with practical, on-the-ground risk indicators so you can make informed decisions — not just gut calls.
Built for independent travelers, digital nomads, and anyone who wants more than a single color-coded warning before booking a trip.
What We Cover
Every country profile includes a composite risk score built from multiple dimensions:
- Government advisory level (normalized from official sources)
- Crime and personal safety pressure
- Health risk and medical infrastructure
- Natural disaster and climate exposure
- Transport infrastructure and road safety
- Civil unrest and political stability
- Scam and tourist-targeting risk
Scores are blended into a single Travel Risk Index that lets you quickly compare countries side by side, filter by region, or track changes over time.
Data Sources
We pull from authoritative public datasets, processed through an automated pipeline that refreshes regularly to keep scores current:
- U.S. State Department
Official country-level travel advisories, updated continuously. Advisories are normalized into a consistent risk scale across all countries.
- World Bank Indicators
Country-level data on crime rates, healthcare infrastructure, political stability, and economic conditions.
Disclaimer
Travel Safety Index is intended for reference purposes only. Risk scores are derived from publicly available data and do not constitute official travel advice. Conditions on the ground can change rapidly.
